Heavy rain on the horizon for the Burnett
THUNDERSTORMS will bring heavy rain to the South Burnett region this weekend.
"A low pressure trough from the west later in the week and weekend will bring the chance of thunderstorms,” Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said.
"We can expect some increase in rainfall from the weekend through to mid next week in the form of thunderstorms and there is potential for the rain to be heavy.”
Kingaroy has received eight millimetres of rain since Monday, including six millimetres in the past 24 hours.
"The cause is humid and moderately unstable easterly winds bringing in moisture from the Pacific Ocean,” Mr Dutschke said.
"It has been like that for a few days now and the last day they have been most unstable, hence the showers being wide spread.”
Mr Dutschke said there was a high chance of everywhere in the region picking up rain on at least three of the next seven days.
