'Little legend' to shave off his mullet for charity

A BOY from Greenhill plans to shave off his illustrious mullet to raise money for a charity, after his grandmother, Sue Smallhorn, lost her tongue to cancer.

Kayne Tetley, 7, wants to raise $2000 for cancer support service Without a Ribbon by March 25, when he'll lose his locks at the Koumala Hotel at midday.

Daniel Reddicliffe, a long-time mate of Kayne's dad, Sean Tetley, took to Facebook pages around the Mackay region to help rustle up some cash.

So far, Kayne has raised "$600, a crayon and packet of Tiny Teddies", according to Mr Reddicliffe - evidently something of a larrikin.

"Shave my mullet and hand me a milkshake says this seven-year-old little Aussie legend ... ," Mr Reddicliffe's post reads.

" ... Kayne has chosen the Koumala Pub to host his big day ... the place is close to his heart just like his mullet.

"I am hoping there are some more legends out there like Kayne who would happily donate a jumping castle and a face painter for a couple of hours."

Kayne's mum, Chloe Smallhorn, said it'll be a sad day for Kayne, who "loves to put his mullet in the breeze" while boating.

For additional motivation, Mr Tetley - who admitted he can't wait for the mullet to go - will also have his beard shaved off on the day.
