High winds cause power outage

HIGH winds knocked out power lines on opposite sides of the region.

Residents in parts of Chelmsford, Wheatlands and Wondai were left in the dark when wind dislodged a power line.

Ergon Energy's Mark Timmerman said almost 130 people had their power out for about an hour before it was restored about 2pm.

A short time later a resident on the D'Aguilar Hwy reported a tree had fallen onto power lines.

Mr Timmerman said only 56 people in Nanango and Yarraman were affected between 1.36pm and 2.18pm.

Yarraman's Wild Horse FM was off air during that time.

Mr Timmerman said reporting incidents like these allowed crews to get to the scene quickly and make it safe.
