Holiday weather that couldn't get any better

A WEEK of perfect Sunshine Coast weather lies ahead with sunny skies above and barely a hint of rain.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Knepp said the wind would be at its strongest today before easing through the week.

Mr Knepp said a high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extending a ridge along the coast had delivered a return of south easterly trade winds that would be freshest on the coastal fringe.

Temperatures there would be moderate but a degree or two higher than average further inland.

He said the Sunshine Coast may see some showers on the coast but any falls would be negligible.

North easterly winds are expected to return later this week.

Mr Knepp said the BOM was not expecting any deviation from what appeared to be a settled forecast over the next seven days.

There was a light shower on the coast this morning after a night of strong south easterlies. The wind will sustain through the day with a maximum of 30C expected.

Tuesday will peak at 31C on a partly cloudy day with light winds throughout while Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will all be mostly sunny with maximum temperatures of 30-31C and light winds.

At this stage north easterlies were expected to begin exerting an influence on Saturday reaching 15 kmh with gusts to 20 kmh.

Sunday will then be partly cloudy with the slight chance of a shower and light winds.
