HOSPITAL PROJECT PROGRESS: Milestone set in concrete
THE FIRST major concrete pour has been completed at the Kingaroy Hospital redevelopment site, marking another exciting milestone in the project.
Kingaroy business Hy-tec supplied the concrete, while Meales Concrete Pumping supplied the pump.
Project director Phil Gregory said 250sq m of concrete was poured for the first third of the ground slab.
The concrete pump used by Meales Concrete Pumping had a boom of 61m – one of the largest in Australia – allowing the concrete to be poured quickly with minimum disruptions to hospital services.
The concrete pump operated for about six hours and was continuously fed by 35 concrete trucks.
“The Kingaroy Hospital redevelopment project contractor, Broad Construction Services, has committed to using local sub-contractors where possible,” Mr Gregory said.
“With the crane onsite and the first major concrete pour completed, the community can really see the new hospital taking shape.”
