How Llew O'Brien spent your tax dollars
IN ONE year, Llew O'Brien's expenses totalled almost $500,000 as Member for Wide Bay.
This is according to the Independent Parliamentarian Expenses Authority report of his expenses for 2018.
Mr O'Brien spent the most money between April and June - $163,636 of the total $499,545 for the year.
Travelling across the Wide Bay electorate from the South Burnett to the Sunshine Coast, and south to Canberra, cost Mr O'Brien $99,183.
Having his family in tow cost the taxpayer $18,257 for the year.
This is $8000 more than the second-highest spending Queensland National MP, Ken O'Dowd, for family travel.
In 2018, Mr O'Brien spent $100,000 more on printing and communication expenses than he did on travel.
These expenses, including printing and distribution, added up to $199,309 for the year.
Mr O'Brien spent $4313 in 2018 on newspapers. He spent a further $84,428 on office facilities.
