How your family can get some extra dental help
DON'T let the costs stop your family receiving the dental assistance they need.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule exists to break the down the price barriers for families who are struggling to get dental help.
This benefits program is for those eligible, providing up to $1000 worth for basic dental services, administered through the Department of Human Services to be used over two consecutive years.
According to the Child Dental Benefits Schedule guide, this can be used on examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fillings, extractions and partial dentures, in either a public or private setting.
To be eligible for these benefits, your child must be between two to 17 years old, are eligible for Medicare and receive payments from the Australian Government.
This eligibility is reassessed every year, and a change in circumstances does not affect the year of benefits if the assessing has already been completed, such as turning 18 later in the year.
Despite it being re-assessed annually, if there is unused money from the previous benefit cap, then it will carry through to the following year if you are still eligible.
