Hundreds show for meeting with mayor

ABOUT 300 people gathered at Blackbutt hall to quiz South Burnett Wayne Kratzmann about rates.

The meeting was chaired by Peter Scott, the man behind the Blackbutt petition that drew almost 900 signatories opposing the rates rise and road levy.

Cr Kratzmann and all councillors, including newcomer Ros Heit, were there in force to hear what disgruntled ratepayers had to say.

Mr Scott kicked off the meeting, outlining the topics of the night, which included the council's spending and the formation of a ratepayers and residents association.

"These are tough times and we cut our cloth to suit our expenses," he said.

"But (the council) are not doing what we are expected to do."
