MURGON man Mark Smith will part with the iconic moustache he has had since 1974 - all in the name of charity.

Mr Smith plans to shave off his long-standing mo' for the Leukaemia Foundation's Shave for a Cure this week.

After going through bowel cancer 11 years ago, Mr Smith said it would be worth losing his signature look to make a difference in anyone's life.

"It's all about raising money, it's still the big C," he said.

Mr Smith said his mo' was all natural and he had never thought about shaving it off.

"It's a part of me and it will grow back," he said.

Mr Smith will be shaving his mo' outside Mark Smith's Menswear in Murgon on Wednesday about 2.30pm.
