IN BRIEF: Council works on water maintenance
SOUTH Burnett Regional Council are working hard to maintain and update works on water infrastructure.
Councillor Roz Frohloff announced the updates at the council meeting on November 22.
Water main work
The Deakin St water main replacement in Nanango has reached stage two on Chester St started on September 19 and 60 per cent complete.
The Watt St water main replacement in Murgon was started on August 20 and is now 100 per cent complete.
Several water main projects have also been planned by council, these include:
- The Brisbane St water main replacement in Nanango, which was programmed to start on November 5.
- Middle Rd water main replacements in Proston, scheduled to start on October 29.
- Reen St main replacement in Kingaroy was also programmed to start on November 5.
- Class A recycled water plants in Murgon and Wondai, where scheme options have been developed.
Recent rain has allowed dam levels to have inflows, however water restrictions within all town water supplies in the South Burnett Region will remain.
All areas will remain at level three water restriction levels until significant inflows to the major dams are received.
A site has been identified for the new Hivesville Standpipe.
South Burnett Regional Council said the network analysis has confirmed water supply and the signal reception was good at the site.
Ongoing hydrant testing and maintenance is being undertaken as time permits across all towns within the region.
All areas have been completed except Kingaroy, which has now completed around 40 per cent of the maintenance.
