It's a wrap: The Block teams deliver their final rooms

SEVERAL of The Block teams have peaked at the right time, earning tens of thousands of dollars off their reserve prices.

In the final room reveals of the season, the embattled renovators of the lower floors of The Gatwick won big while the penthouse teams limped across the finish line.

Hans and Courtney won the top prize for the second week in a row, earning a whopping total of $40,000 off their reserve price at next Sunday's auction.

The judges loved their funky, cafe-style kitchen and butler's pantry, which were styled to perfection by Courtney.

"I am suffering extreme kitchen envy. I want this badly," judge Neale Whitaker said.

"It's a kitchen that acknowledges how we now live life; this is where you'd hang out everyday.

"You needed an advertisement for luxury St Kilda living this is it."

Kerrie and Spence finished in second place with their luxurious outdoor terrace, which boasted a piano, large sectional couch and bar overlooking Fitzroy Street.

"If it were me I would be out here with my friends, close the door, let the kids watch the movies inside - maybe it all makes more sense now," Darren Palmer said, referring to Bianca and Carla's disappointing lounge room inside.

"This states high luxury, high expense and a beautiful lifestyle and isn't that what you want to buy when you're buying property?"

Hayden and Sara finished in third place by just half a point, earning a further $10,000 off their reserve.

Challenged with delivering the hallway, laundry, powder room and study, the couple dug deep to produce some of their best designs of the series.

The judges loved their choice of artwork in the hallway, which tied in with the apartment's eclectic St Kilda brief.

"How funky is this? It's really cool," Shaynna Blaze said.

"I am seeing dots of white and paint everywhere. These guys have got four spaces but we've got to look at every element of what we're judging."

Luckily their laundry and study were also impressive spaces that fit cohesively with the rest of the apartment.

"I think this is the best thing I've seen them deliver all Block," Whitaker said.

Jess and Norm finished in fourth place, and were the only team not to win any money off their reserve.

They received mostly positive feedback, though, for their dining room, which Jess worked on largely without Norm who had been ill for most of the week.

The judges praised their custom-made dining table and statement neon light.

"This giant circular dining table is so simple. Everything in here is really simple," Palmer said.

"I can just picture the lifestyle you lead in this apartment. You turn on you neon light, you turn on the music and you entertain."

Netballers Bianca and Carla were slammed for their uninspiring living room, which felt more like a rumpus room than a living room for a luxury apartment.

"I feel like we've got a dead clown lying on the sofa there," Whitaker said, referring to their choice in cushions.

"It feels cheap and it's really letting the apartment down.

"They would not have done this in their own apartment."

The five Gatwick apartments will go under the hammer next Sunday, October 28 in The Block finale.

Challenge apartment week 2 scores:

Hans and Courtney: 29

Kerrie and Spence: 28.5
