‘I’ve never won anything in my life’: Gayndah winner
GAYNDAH'S Neil Blee has shown that spending money in town can pay off, by winning the Gayndah Shop Local competition.
The frequent shopper in the area is over the moon after winning multiple $50 vouchers from the 12 businesses participating.
"I'm stoked of course, I've never won anything in my life, so I suppose the first time is the best," Mr Blee said.
"I'm continually in Mitre 10 where I'm always buying gear such as screws, bolts, paint equipment, a bit of everything really."
Gayndah Mitre 10 manager Carol Meredith congratulated Mr Blee on his win and said it was important for businesses to participate in the competition.
"It's like saying thank you to the customers that come in and shop here everyday," Mrs Meredith said.
"We participate each time in the competition, and it's a great way to give everyone a chance to win."
Cam and Sue's Quality Meats manager Cam Polzin agreed.
"There are a lot of people shopping locally here, and we have to keep that happening," Mr Polzin said.
"With an incentive like that, it works to keep customers buying in the town."
Mr Blee encouraged other residents to continue to shop local.
"We have to keep these businesses alive and going, otherwise it's going to be a dying town," Mr Blee said.
"We are the citrus capital of Queensland, but it doesn't mean there isn't a possibility of us turning into a ghost town if people stop buying."
We'd like to thank all businesses that participated in the competition:
