
James Hird resigns as Bombers coach after horrid run
JAMES Hird has resigned as Essendon coach, effective immediately, following a series of miserable results for the club.
The club announced his departure via a club statement Tuesday afternoon.
Hird was contracted to coach the Bombers next season, but will be released from the third and final year of his contract.
Hird, club president Paul Little and chief executive Xavier Campbell appeared at the press conference on Tuesday afternoon to announce the coach's departure.
"On Monday night I agreed to tender my resignation to the Essendon Football Club," Hird said.
