Jane turns on the light

INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed flautist Jane Rutter has received standing ovations in Australia and Paris for her poetic story of a musician coming of age in the romantic, exciting and timeless City of Light.

Now she brings her concert-theatre piece devoted to delicious French music from La Belle Epoque to the present day to the stage in Caloundra.

Using French poetry and her own anecdotes, Jane relates her experiences in this most beautiful and romantic of cities, as well as the tales of many other artists, writers and musicians who have flocked there to form their artistic personalities in An Australian in Paris.

The show includes the legacy of the Rampal Flute School, and the "tres amusant" company of Picasso, Baudelaire, Verlaine, Colette, Josephine Baker, Janet Flanner and Gertrude Stein.

Music by Debussy, Faure, Jolivet, Poulenc, Elgar, Roussel, Marais, Ravel, Bolling, Cole Porter, Mancini, Piaf and Aznavour.

In 2010, Jane earned acclaim in Paris for her performances in French of An Australian in Paris.

She is a world expert on the Rampal style of flute playing, in which never a note is played without communicative intent.

The show will be held in The Events Centre Playhouse on Thursday, May 3, at 11am (morning tea at 10am).

Tickets are $16 and groups of 10 or more are $14.50 each.

Lunch is available at 12.30pm - $15 or groups of 10 or more $13.50.
