ADMIRE Deus has undergone surgery and is "recovering well."
The star Japanese stayer has been under sedation since suffering extensive suspensory ligament damage to his nearside front leg last week.
Transported from Warrnambool to Ballarat for specialist treatment, Admire Deus' life hovered in the balance as vets decided on the best option for the chestnut.
A decision was finally made to operate today.
Darren Weir's stable tweeted: "Admire Deus has had surgery and is recovering well.
"Still a long road to go but going in right direction. Thanks for all the well wishes."
Admire Deus is one of three internationals to go amiss this spring.
Godolphin's Francis Of Assisi suffered a suspected fracturd pelvis, while Ireland's Riven Light underwent surgery last week on foreleg.
British miler Mask Of Time has been cleared of injury, dispelling the fears the raider had suffered a serious leg injury.
International scout Leigh Jordon said Mask Of Time appears to have fully recovered and, all being well, would race during the carnival.
