Jason Akermanis fined over crash
AFL legend Jason Akermanis has been fined $700 for providing a wrong name after a car crash at Mooloolaba on Boxing Day last year.
Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard today that Akermanis ran into the back of a stopped vehicle, but then failed to provide his particulars as required by law.
He was later questioned by Victoria Police, and told them that he was not paying attention at the time and that there was "miniscule" damage to the other vehicle.
Akermanis did not appear at court today. He pleaded guilty via a written submission.
In March, the AFL megamouth made headlines on the Sunshine Coast when he attacked the late Jim Stynes as a "nasty man in his day'' who was now being treated like a "demigod".
His contract with a local radio station was axed after the comments.
