Jesse Eisenberg compares Comic-Con to genocide

JESSE Eisenberg has come under fire for comparing Comic-Con to "genocide."

The 31-year-old actor, who attended the annual entertainment convention in San Diego, California last Friday (10.07.15) to promote his upcoming film 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' alongside co-stars Ben Affleck, Amy Adams and Henry Cavill, was blasted by fans for suggesting "being screamed at by thousands of people" is similar to the deliberate killing of a large group of civilians.

The star added: "I don't know what the experience is throughout history, probably some kind of genocide. I can't think of anything that's equivalent."

But his comments prompted fury on Twitter, with one user writing: "I feel like Jesse Eisenberg doesn't grasp the definition of genocide. Can someone direct him to some history books por favor?"

Another tweeted: "Jesse Eisenberg compared Comic-Con to genocide. In other news, 6 million killed in the Holocaust can't wait to meet him & disagree forever"

Jesse has yet to respond to the controversy, but is happy he won't have to go to Comic-Con for at least another year.

Speaking at the premiere for his new film, 'The End of the Tour,' he told PEOPLE.com: "The movie was received well. That's why we go. You get to leave relatively unscathed and it's at least a year before you have to do anything like that again."
