Tributes flow for Jo-Anne after tragic crash death
JO-ANNE Fuller spent Sunday doing what she loved best - giving back to the community.
The 53-year-old had just finished playing in a charity bowls game and was headed home to Maryborough when her white Hyundai collided with a blue Mazda about 1km from the roundabout on Hervey Bay-Maryborough Rd.
Jo-Anne was killed instantly.
A dedicated, fun-loving woman with a strong sense of humour, Jo-Anne worked in the office of the Hervey Bay Legacy Group.
She helped support the widows and families of deceased servicemen.
Hervey Bay Legacy Group member Carol Schultz said Jo-Anne was a very warm, welcoming person.
"She loved the job and she used to say she loved being part of the Legacy family," she said.
Members of the Legacy Group said they had noticed since Jo-Anne had started with the club about 12 months ago, more and more widows were dropping into the office for a chat.
"She would talk about anything," Ms Schultz said.
A dedicated woman, Jo-Anne often spoke to people about her young niece and members of her extended family.
Ms Schultz said Jo-Anne was often asking about people's family members and pets.
"She loved seeing all our photos," she said.
Jo-Anne had previously worked at Bolton's Furniture Store in Maryborough and also worked part-time at Dick Elmers Furniture.
She was heavily involved in the Maryborough Lutheran Church.
The hardworking Maryborough woman never married and cared for her elderly mother, who is a widow, who receives support from Legacy.
A Bidwell woman, 39, who was a passenger in the white Elantra, was discharged from the Hervey Bay Hospital yesterday.
She suffered soft tissue injuries including bruising and lacerations in the crash.
The 20-year-old Hervey Bay man who drove the blue Mazda 3 suffered fractured vertebrates in his lower back, a broken left foot and other minor injuries.
Police confirmed speed, alcohol and not wearing a seatbelt had been ruled out as possible factors.
