Keeping healthy at low cost in the South Burnett

PEOPLE often think keeping healthy comes at a cost, but unless you're talking about a cost of time, this isn't entirely true.

Staying fit doesn't always have to involve money and gym memberships, and there is a great range of activities around the South Burnett to keep you in top shape.

Utilising the environment

In the South Burnett, we're very lucky to have so many natural and man-made paths to explore.

These include from mountain walks and look-out hikes from Mt Wooroolin to Boat Mountain, as well as the many tracks at the Bunya Mountains.

If you're someone who prefers cycling, checking out the South Burnett Rail Trail is a great start.

Here, you will avoid any worrisome traffic, and you can ride as much as you like while taking in the beautiful country scenery on the Kilkivan to Kingaroy trail.

Hitting the rail trail makes for a perfect activity for a free Saturday or Sunday and can be great fun for the entire family to get involved in.

Utilising the internet

For those who are time poor and can't make time for travelling to different mountain paths or trails, you don't have to worry about missing out.

There are many different apps, websites and YouTube videos focusing on fitness that are not only free, but are also easy to access.

Online tutorials can help you work on cardio, strength and toning training in the comfort of your home.

Paying for convenience

If you aren't motivated at home to exercise, then this might be where paying for a gym membership becomes worth your while.

You won't have to stock up on home equipment, or worry about weather concerns stopping you from hitting up a hiking destination.

There are many gyms in the South Burnett, and many personal trainers within them.

If you want to cut down on costs, feel free to speak to the team at a local gym and find out the prices for classes, as it could suit you to have a class membership rather than a standard gym membership.
