Keith wishes you a 'Mayor-y' Christmas

THE spirit of Christmas was in full swing at this year's annual Mayor's Community Christmas Luncheon.

South Burnett Regional Council Mayor Keith Campbell was chuffed with the support he received in preparing this year's festive event held at the Kingaroy Town Hall.

"It always gladdens my heart when I see the response from the community,” Cr Campbell said.

Funds raised from the event will go towards making Christmas more special for those South Burnett families who are down on their luck during this festive period.

"All the money raised is converted into vouchers which can be used at Kingaroy Supa IGA,” Cr Campbell said.

"This will allow families to buy some of those things they wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford at Christmas time.”

Special guest and popular chef, Matt Golinksi, inspired the 130-plus attendees with stories of the generosity he received in times of tragedy, and how important it was to him to give back.

"Matt Golinski is a man who has experienced the tragedy and heartache of a personal incident impacting his family,” Cr Campbell said.

"I know that he got a lot of support from the community when he was going through his periods of hardship.

"He is just a really decent sort of a bloke and I'm sure those who are attending here today will feel that way towards him.”

After a mixed year of weather events in the region, our mayor wished all South Burnett families a safe and happy Christmas.

"You can imagine there are some families out there who have been hit by hail, storms and fires,” he said.

"Let alone families that have been hit by health issues.”

Along with spending time with family over the Christmas break, Cr Campbell had a simple wish list to send off to Santa.

"I would ask Santa for continued good health, a clear head and the will to keep on serving the South Burnett community in my role as mayor,” he said.
