Kids vocal at swim carnival

THE roar of "we've got the spirit" was deafening as school students tried to one up each other at the South Burnett Aquatic Centre.

The Nanango State School swimming carnival filled the indoor pool complex to the brim with spirited young athletes barracking for their friends in the water.

The cheering only stopped when claps of thunder had the younger ones screaming, before returning to yelling about their spirit levels.

Under-12 swimmer Macey Roberts said the atmosphere at the pool was amazing.

"I'm really impressed with how many swimmers are here swimming and the turnout is really good," Macey said.

"It's really good the way it's been run with all the officials and the people here."

Macey said she had enjoyed swimming in the carnival and it was good to compete in an environment she was familiar with.

"I train here at this pool," she said.

"I haven't had any personal bests (today) but I'm happy with how I'm swimming.

"I've been coming second a lot but I'm really happy with that."
