Kingaroy to welcome in new residential estate

MORE than 220 new homes are set to come to Kingaroy.

South Burnett Regional Council approved the reconfiguration of the lot application for 60 Clark and Swendson Rd during their council meeting on January 16.

The applicant, Adamson Town Planning, applied to transform the 32 hectares near the Swickers Kingaroy Bacon Factory into 227 residential lots, a buffer lot and a joint park and drainage lot.

Mayor Keith Campbell said the development was good for Kingaroy.

"It is encouraging to see a development like this in the region,” he said.

The development is proposed to be undertaken across 12 stages.

Each lot will be an average 20 metres in width and 41.5m in depth, resulting in lots of around 830sqm.

The minimum lot size across the development will be 767sqm, with a minimum road frontage of 17m.

New internal roads will also be built as part of the development to provide access to the newly created lots, with a main road connecting to Clark and Swendson Rd.

A lot of almost five hectares will be used as a buffer and will be transferred to Swickers under a deed of compromise between the land owner and Swickers.

Another lot will be dedicated to council to be primarily used for the collection of stormwater from the development before it is discharged directly to Kingaroy Creek.

An open channel will be provided on the adjoining land owned by the Peanut Company of Australia.

This will be included within the easement in favour of maintenance purposes for the council.

The design has also catered to sewerage reticulation, which will service the development by gravity means.
