TJM Laceys has been in Rockhampton for four decades

WHEN Dan Lacey went into business 40 years ago, little did he know it would still be standing strong today.

TJM Laceys has been in Rockhampton for four decades and isn't slowing down anytime soon.

TJM Laceys sells everything from 4X4 accessories to tool boxes, water tanks and have onsite fitting.

Not only has it survived the ups and downs of the economy, it has always been family run.

And that's one of the reasons why Sales Manager Caitlyn Lacey thinks business is still booming.

Caitlyn is the granddaughter of Dan and Jeanette Lacey who bought the business in 1974 when it was under the name Laceys Exhaust Systems.

Her grandparents were the sole workers of the businesses, but within 18 months they needed larger premises.

They made the move from the corner of Denison and Derby Sts to a premises on Denison St, where it stands today, along with additions to the business.

Caitlyn's parents, Anthony and Tricia Lacey, took ownership of TJM Laceys in 2001 and now have their three children working with them today.

Caitlyn has been working at the family business for seven years and wouldn't have it any other way.

"We are passionate about what we sell and love it," she said.

Caitlyn said the family's success is also because they know exactly what they're selling.

"We aren't just theory-based about our products, we go four-wheel driving and pig hunting, so we know what we're talking about," Caitlyn said.

With their big business milestone coming up, Caitlyn's grandad will be in Rockhampton for the celebration taking place next Saturday.
