Lawyer seeks drug trafficker’s counsel in custody

AN ACCUSED drug trafficker will face at least six more days in custody while his lawyer organises a time to see him in prison.

Keith Patrick McVeigh has been in custody since he and Warren Peter McDonald were charged earlier this month for their alleged involvement in a Warwick marijuana trafficking syndicate.

On Thursday Mr McDonald was released on bail with strict conditions, but Mr McVeigh's Friday bail application had to be adjourned.

Mr McVeigh's lawyer, Terry O'Gorman, told Justice Peter Lyons in the Brisbane Supreme Court he needed to receive instructions from Mr McVeigh about documents he received on Thursday afternoon.

Mr O'Gorman said the material was 40 pages long and the jail did not have "a spot" available until Tuesday.

Along with trafficking, production and possession charges, Mr McVeigh has also been charged with possessing the Emu Vale property used in connection with the alleged crimes.

The bail application was adjourned until Thursday (Nov27).
