LDMG confirm zero cases of COVID in South Burnett

THE South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group has confirmed there are no cases of COVID-19 in the South Burnett.  

The Disaster Management Group received information from Queensland Health and the Queensland Police Service this morning and are aware there has been alleged failure by two people in the region to quarantine after re-entering the state.  

The Disaster Management Group will meet again next week to continue its cooperative approach in maintaining community safety within the South Burnett Region.

A 63-year old man and 68-year-old woman have been placed in mandatory hotel quarantine after allegedly travelling from a COVID-19 hot spot.

Police detained the couple in Nanango yesterday after receiving information they had allegedly travelled through the Goondiwindi police checkpoint with false declarations on July 27.

The pair were issued with notices to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on August 19 for failing to comply with the Queensland Border Direction and fraud.

POLICE have confirmed two people in the South Burnett have been caught allegedly lying on their border declaration forms to enter Queensland.

Deputy Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski made the announcement at a press conference this morning.

Mr Gollschewski said the pair in their 60s were found to have m

ade a false declaration on their border declaration passes, and were found in Nanango.

"Can I highlight to the community these are very serious offences," Mr Gollschewski said.

They have been issued with notices to appear.
