Less dingo risk means camping grounds to be reopened
FRASER Island camping grounds closed in July after incidents involving aggressive dingoes are likely to be reopened for the coming school holidays.
Department of National Parks regional director for Sunshine and Fraser Coast Peter Wright said the Govi, Wongai and One Tree Rocks camping zones were closed in early July following incidents involving aggressive dingoes.
The camping grounds are on the eastern beach of Fraser Island in the vicinity of Eurong and Dilli Village.
"A recent assessment by QPWS shows risks in this area have since lessened and it is intended to have the camping zones reopened for the coming school holidays," Mr Wright said.
"There will be increased ranger patrols and dingo monitoring in these locations during this time."
