LETTER: Bunnings will be bad for our town

WHEN I saw the front page of the Times on Friday August 10 and saw all the outlets that could be coming to the South Burnett I could not believe what I was reading.

It is my opinion that we do not require any of them.

We have three groceries outlets, enough fast food outlets and we have hardware, plumbing, electrical and furniture suppliers to name a few where we can purchase all of our needs.

Bunnings have outlets; one in Dalby and two in Toowoomba which is close to our town and I believe many people visit there regularly.

As I look around our town I have noticed many shops that have been closed down and empty buildings.

If we allow the retailers that were printed on the front page of the paper, many more of our shops will also close that are owned and operated by local personnel and many jobs would be in jeopardy.

As a rate payer I am concerned for the businesses that are now operating in this town.
