Lightning forces repairs at Kingaroy water treatment plant

SOUTH Burnett Regional Council has asked residents to limit water usage following a lightning strike at Kingaroy Water Treatment Plant.

Key components of the plant are being manually operated following a storm on Saturday night.

A council spokeswoman said residents can help reduce water demand by limiting non-essential water use.

The council hopes repairs will be completed by the end of the week, depending on the availability of spare parts.
