Strikers claim maiden BBL title with huge win

ADELAIDE Strikers dominated with the bat and then with the ball to claim a maiden BBL title in front of a home crowd and send the Hobart Hurricanes back to Tasmania with a grand final record of 0-2.

The Strikers won by 25 runs after restricting the Hurricanes with some savvy bowling and key wickets at crucial times.

Adelaide had earlier set a record BBL final total of 202 before coming out to do the business with the ball.

Jake Weatherald starred with the bat for the Strikers, hitting a swag of sixes to bag his first BBL ton.

Weatherald smashed 115 runs from 70 deliveries after Strikers captain Travis Head won the toss and elected to bat.

The Hurricanes innings in the field was marred by poor bowling, dropped catches and farcical errors that ultimately cost valuable runs.

Strike bowler Jofra Archer was the worst of the bunch. His figures of 1/46 were the most expensive of the Hurricanes bowlers and he was involved in two separate incidents that led to overthrow runs for Adelaide.
