Lockyer attracts huge crowds
KINGAROY Shoppingworld was so busy on Saturday morning it could have been mistaken for the Queen St Mall.
One of the greatest NRL players of all time, Darren Lockyer was in town to meet with fans, get some photos and sign autographs.
But not even the former Broncos' captain could have expected the volume of passionate league fans who lined up in their hundreds.
Lockyer was in town for the re-launch of the Kingaroy Telstra store.
Along with the Kingaroy store manager, Jason 'Wal' Koy, Lockyer cut the ribbon to officially open the new store.
Koy said bringing the former State of Origin star to Kingaroy was their way of giving back to their customers.
"It's all about thanking the community for their support over all the years we have been here," he said.
"It's our way of giving something back to them and saying, 'this is for you'."

The proud manager, Koy has been at the Kingaroy store for 18 years.
"This will be our third location in the shopping centre," he said.
The re-launch meant a whole new environment for Telstra customers.
"It's called a F.R.E store, so it is a future retail environment," Koy said.
"It means a better experience for the customer and better usage of space.
"Everything is live so they can get a feel for it before they purchase it or take it away.'
With the hundreds and hundreds of people lined up to see the former rugby league star, Koy praised Darren Lockyer for his professionalism and his way with the fans.
"It takes a special sort of person to do this," he said.
"I am a massive Broncos' fan so it is a big deal to me."
