SPORT STARS: Do you know an outstanding South Burnett sportsperson?

Maybe they have excelled in their sport of choice at a local, state or even national level.

Or maybe they have improved out of sight this year and their achievements deserve to be acknowledged.

Whatever the case, we would love to feature them in this year's South Burnett Times Sportsperson of the Year competition.

As we head towards the end of the year, we think it's the perfect time to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our local sport stars.

So, we're putting the call out for nominations.

We want you to let us know about impressive sportspeople in junior (17 and under) and senior (18 and over) categories.

What you need to do

Simply let us know, in 200 words or less, why someone deserves to be nominated for our Sportsperson of the Year competition.

You can nominate yourself or someone else.

Include in your entry specific achievements from the past 12 months that make this person worthy of the title.

There's no limitations on the kind of sport that will be considered.

It could be a team sport, an individual pursuit or something you have done through school - we just want to hear about it.

Send your nomination, including the full name and age of the person being nominated, as well as the best contact phone number and email, to sport@southburnetttimes

Otherwise, come drop a print out off at our office, 176 Haly St, Kingaroy.

You have until close of business October 10 to get your nominations in, so don't delay.

What we'll do

All nominees will have their names mentioned in the sports section of the South Burnett Times.

Once we have received all nominations, we will select finalists.

We'll then interview the finalists and feature them in a special profile in the paper.

After that, we'll announce the winners in both the senior and junior categories.

So get nominating!
