A COW stood on a man and left him needing to be airlifted with suspected chest injuries.

The man, in his 40s, was stepped on by the cow at an Alice Creek property in the South Burnett.

The Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the property shortly after 10.30am to treat and airlift the man.

He was flown to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition.
