Man charged with assault after roadside disturbance

A MAN, 33, has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm after police were called to a disturbance on the Kingaroy Cooyar Road involving a male and female on Saturday.

On attendance police located a Holden utility that was missing its bonnet; the battery had been pulled out and thrown across the highway and the dash and steering wheel were severely damaged and pulled apart.

Police will allege that investigations revealed a Nanango man, 33, assaulted a 29-year-old Kingaroy woman after becoming angry because the vehicle they were in ran out of fuel.

The alleged victim was driven away by a passing witness after taking refuge in their vehicle.

The man was later located and charged, to appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on June 18.
