Man damages police van after allegedly stealing from store

A BLACKBUTT man will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21 charged with stealing, two counts of obstructing police, two counts of wilful damage, assault and public nuisance.

The 44-year-old man was allegedly attempting to steal from a Kingaroy grocery store on Saturday, December 15.

Police were called to the Youngman St store at 8.45am after the man allegedly became abusive when approached by management.

The man was required to state his name to police but allegedly refused and was arrested.

He allegedly struggled with officers and when he was eventually placed in the police van he caused wilful damage to the vehicle.
