ONE man is dead after a truck collision near Macalister.

The man died at the scene on Warrego Hwy, 5km west of Macalister, shortly after 11pm.

Dalby police Sergeant David Tierney said he appeared to have veered onto the wrong side of the road.

"The other vehicle had taken evasive action; however, both vehicles collided," Sgt Tierney said.

The driver of the second truck, a 30-year-old Torrington man, was initially trapped in the wreckage.

He has since been airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.
