Four men on the run after home invasion

A COOMINYA man was forced to flee for his life after four men stormed his home during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Preliminary information indicates the man disturbed the group about 1am in the kitchen of his Vineyard Rd house.

A brief struggle occurred inside before the man ran out onto the back patio, where he was tackled to the ground and another struggle ensued.

The man, 53, managed to free himself and escape to a neighbouring house where he alerted police.

The four men fled on foot and were last seen on Vineyard Rd heading towards Brisbane Valley Highway.

The man received minor cuts and abrasions as a result of the frightening incident.

It comes less than three weeks after two men broke into a pensioner's Bundamba home and attacked him while he lay defenceless in his bed.

Ron Jones, 87, was shot in the leg during the callous attack and remains in a stable condition in a Brisbane hospital.

Ipswich CIB chief Detective Sergeant Heath McQueen said investigations into the Coominya incident were ongoing.

But he said police did not believe the two incidents were related.
