M'boro man, 45, given bail on eight child porn charges

A 45-YEAR-old Maryborough man has been granted bail after being charged with eight counts of possessing child exploitation material.

The man's computer and other electronic devices were seized by police on September 12 over alleged computer images that exploited children.

He appeared in Maryborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday for all eight charges.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Chris Elder said the eight charges referred to the number of devices the man allegedly used to store the images.

It was not clear how many images he was alleged to have possessed.

He said the man had no prior criminal history.

Duty lawyer Judy Millward said the man was not at risk of reoffending while on bail as police had seized his devices and he no longer had a home computer.

Magistrate John Smith warned the man if he appeared before the court on a similar charge again, he would have no chance of bail.

He is due to appear in court again on November 26.
