Man jailed for Kingaroy CBD break ins

A THIEF has been returned to jail after he was caught breaking into the Carrollee Hotel last week.

Kingaroy Senior Sergeant David Tierney said police received a call about 1.20am on Wednesday, June 13.

When officers arrived they observed the thief had entered through the toilet block window at the rear of the pub.

"The offender stole some drinks and cash,” Snr Sgt Tierney said.

As one officer checked the rear window another approached the front entrance. Snr Sgt Tierney said the offender tried to exit the front of the building and ran into an officer.

The 39-year-old Brisbane man was held in custody until the Kingaroy Magistrates Court opened a few hours later.

He pleaded guilty to the break in at the Carrollee Hotel and a separate incident at Spice Garden on June 11. He was also on parole for similar crimes at the time. The man was sentence to 12 months jail.
