One lane of highway open as police investigate fatal crash

UPDATE: One lane of the Gore Hwy near the scene of a single-vehicle crash in which a 59-year-old man was killed is now open.

1.15PM: The Gore Hwy south of Millmerran has been closed as police investigate single-vehicle crash in which a 59-year-old man was killed.

The crash was reported at 10.30am today.

It occurred on Heckendorfs Rd at Captains Mountain, 18km south of Millmerran.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the traffic crash was visible from the Gore Hwy.

The Forensic Crash Unit is on scene investigating.

The highway was closed at 12.55pm and should reopen shortly.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the man was the only occupant in the vehicle when it crashed into a tree.

11AM: A man has been killed in a traffic crash near the Gore Hwy south of Millmerran.

The single-vehicle crash was reported about 10.30am.

It has occurred on Heckendorfs Rd, about 18km south of Millmerran, at Captains Mountain a few kilometres off the Gore Hwy.

There are reports the car crashed into a tree.

Only one person was in the vehicle.

Emergency services are on scene.
