Still no sign of missing Bribie Island man

AN extensive land search today involving police, the dog squad, State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers, a rescue helicopter and other agencies has failed to locate any sign of missing man Michael Newbon.

The land search has been suspended due to darkness however police will be continuing to search the area overnight.

The search will resume tomorrow with SES volunteers returning at first light.

Police would like to thank the members of the community that have been assisting by searching the areas around their homes today.

Police are continuing to appeal for residents near the national park, and the Banksia Beach and White Patch areas to check their yards, garages, sheds or other buildings in the event that Mr Newbon may have sought shelter

Mr Newbon,73, is described being 180cm with a slim build and short grey hair, and is wearing a navy polo shirt, long navy trousers and black dress shoes.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Newbon or has information on his whereabouts is being urged to contact Bribie Island Police on 3410 9222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
