Man tasered in domestic violence stand off

An aggressive attack on a woman, damage to property and unpredictable behaviour forced police to taser a man in Kingaroy last night.

The weapon was deployed after officers were called to a disturbance between the 30-year-old man and his partner at a residence in Kingaroy St just after 10pm.

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said police arrived on the scene to find a woman in distress.

"He was extremely aggressive, extremely violent, extremely agitated," he said.

"He appeared to be affected by alcohol or other substances."

The man allegedly confronted officers, leading them to take decisive action.

"For reasons of police officer safety, the safety of the female victim and to safely manage the offender, a police taser was deployed," he said.

"This had an effect on the man and he was taken into custody.

"He suffered no residual injuries from the deployment of the taser."

The man has been charged in relation to domestic violence matters and obstructing police.

He was ordered to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on April 13.
