Kingaroy men brawl over Facebook comments

WHEN two men started brawling in the middle of Kingaroy Shoppingworld, police were called by a number of concerned onlookers.

Kingaroy Police officer in charge, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said one man was in the bottle shop "when he was called upon by the other man to fight".

Snr Sgt Frank said the instigator of the fight, which blew up about 10.30am on Tuesday, was a 17-year-old Kingaroy man.

He said the fight was the result of an "ongoing dispute between two groups known to each other".

Snr Sgt Frank said it allegedly started because comments were made about the 17-year-old's family on Facebook.

"Which he then decided to sort out by fighting in the shopping centre," Snr Sgt Frank said.

Snr Sgt Frank said police were reviewing witnesses' versions of the event and CCTV footage from the centre.

The 17-year-old man was found and charged with a public nuisance offence.
