Men impersonating police in order to rob others in Wilston

DETECTIVES are investigating an incident in which a man was assaulted and robbed by two men impersonating police at Wilston early this morning.

Around 3.50am, a 27-year-old man was smoking a cigarette outside an address on Hewitt Street when a red sedan with red and blue flashing lights mounted to the dashboard pulled up beside him.

A male passenger got out of the vehicle, declared that he was a police officer, and produced a firearm.

He then directed the 27-year-old to raise his hands, kneel, and place his belonging on the ground.

As the 27-year-old knelt to the ground, the man kicked him in the head and took his phone before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

The 27-year-old man sustained injuries to his face and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital for treatment.

The men in the red vehicle are described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 185-190cm tall with solid builds.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the red sedan in the area at the time, or has any information regarding the matter to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
