CLIVE Palmer has resigned from the LNP after a turbulent ending to a life-long membership.

Announcing his resignation on ABC's Lateline program on Thursday night, Mr Palmer said he could no longer support the Queensland Government.

In a statement released on Friday, Mr Palmer said he no longer supported Premier Campbell Newman due to the "arrogant disregard for accountability" which has made the LNP organisation redundant.

The resignation comes after the LNP state executive suspended Mr Palmer after he lodged a complaint against Treasurer Tim Nicholls for misleading the state about Queensland's debt.

But the LNP decided to lift Mr Palmer's resignation on Wednesday.

A letter addressed to Mr Palmer from LNP state president Bruce McIver stated the suspension was lifted from 9am on Wednesday and Mr Palmer's rights were resorted.

But at 9pm on Thursday, Mr Palmer resigned.

The Sunshine-Coast based mining magnate has taken aim at Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie's proposed changes to Right to Information legislation, "which only serve to protect the government".

Mr Palmer said Mr Newman - "Caesar" - was also covering up activities within his Government by confirming information normally not excluded by RTI legislation will now be exempt from minister's diaries.

Mr Newman announced this week he would release his minister's diaries online from next year.

Only this week Mr Palmer applied to the Supreme Court for a urgent order to allow his suspension to be lifted so he could vote at the senate pre-selection with the LNP executive.

Mr Palmer is about to address the media.

More to come.
