RENAY Wells is diving in the deep end with her sexy swimwear designs and believes they will be the perfect fit for Gold Coast girls.
The Southport-based designer behind the risqué brand Miss Maneater Australia is set to launch her summer collection which includes swimwear made out of suede, velvet and even leather. Ms Wells said there was a big demand on the Coast.
"The girls who are wearing them always say that these swimmers give them a confidence boost and that's the whole idea," she said.
Ms Wells, who started her business in 2010, said the niche style was in response to a demand from models.
"A lot of models would reach out to me and ask me to cut their swimmers so I decided to just give them the brand that they were looking for," she said.
Ms Wells said Australians were not afraid to show off a bit of skin.
"We sell all over the world but I have found Australians are the most outgoing when it comes to revealing swimwear," she said.
"I was working for a surf label in LA for a while and Americans are still a bit more conservative when it comes to short-cut swimwear."
Ms Wells said the design was a play on swimwear from the 1980s.
"We're taking style inspiration from the past with the high cut on the hips but we're listening to girls and making the tops more supportive. It's all about feeling supported and sexy."
