Footage reveals Monis tried to shoot escapees

FOOTAGE of the Sydney siege played yesterday revealed gunman Man Haron Monis shot at six hostages as they fled the Lindt Cafe in December 2014.

The footage was played during the inquest into the siege and refuted a previous theory Monis's shot was a warning.

Counsel Assisting the Coroner Sophie Callan told the inquest analysis of the footage proved the inference he was in fact shooting at the escaping hostages.

The inquest heard Monis fired the shot about 2.11am as the six hostages escaped the cafe.

Shortly after, Monis shot hostage and cafe manager Tori Johnson in the back of the head.

Monis then reportedly told the remaining hostages "don't move, everything will be fine", before a tactical police team entered and shot him.
