More rain and cooler temperatures on the way for 2016

THE South Burnett is due for more rain heading into the first weeks of 2016.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster David Bernard said Kingaroy could expect rain over the weekend and more below average temperatures.

The South Burnett has experienced cooler than average temperatures this week.

"There has been a fairly dry southerly wind change right through south-east Queensland," he said.

"Sunny conditions during the day at this stage will be a little bit of shower activity on the weekend hanging around in the early part of next week."

Mr Bernard said daytime temperatures would also be cooler then the average for this time of year.

"Cool at night with a dry wind change coming though," he said.

"Not seeing much change until Saturday when it will get to 30°C."

Kingaroy residents can expect showers and temperatures in the mid-20s throughout next week, with 10-20mm of rain predicted on Tuesday.

Rainfall last year increased considerably in November with 49.8mm in 2014 compared to 147.8mm for 2015.
