Mourinho miffed as Mooy leads Terriers to historic win

AN honest Jose Mourinho says his players were just not good enough as Aaron Mooy helped Huddersfield defeat Manchester United 2-1 in the English Premier League.

Mooy was on target in the first half with Laurent Depoitre also scoring before the break.

Marcus Rashford pulled one back but it was not enough to stop the Terriers defeating United for the first time since 1952 for the Red Devils' first loss of the season.

A furious Mourinho said: "When I lose matches, I like to lose because the opponent was better, had more quality. When you lose because of attitude, that is really bad."

Huddersfield's German manager David Wagner could not have been happier, however.

"It's another chapter in the fairytale we started nearly two years ago," he said.

"Today was our moment. It makes everyone very happy and very proud."

Leaders Manchester City took full advantage of United's slip by beating Burnley 3-0, with Sergio Aguero equalling Eric Brook's club scoring record of 177 goals.

Second-half goals from Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane completed victory as City moved five points clear at the top.

The Sky Blues have won their last 11 games in all competitions - equalling a new club record.

Defending champions Chelsea, meanwhile, put last week's shock defeat to Crystal Palace behind them with a 4-2 home win over Watford.

Watford came back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 but after Michy Batshuayi came off the bench to equalise, a headed goal from Cesar Azpilicueta put the home team in front before Batshuayi sealed victory with his second goal.

New manager syndrome hit in Swansea with caretaker boss Michael Appleton steering his team to a 2-1 success over Swansea City for a first away win since April.

In other games Palace could not build on last week's win over Chelsea, losing 1-0 at Newcastle, while Bournemouth defeated fellow strugglers Stoke on the road.

Sofiane Boufal scored a sensational solo goal in Southampton's 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
