Murgon to celebrate Easter with new event

IN DECEMBER, the Murgon Business and Development Association had to make the decision to fork out $17,000 to pay for rides from the cancelled Christmas carnival or to hold an event within the next six months.

As a result, the inaugural Murgon Easter Fair will take place on Friday, April 5.

In the main street from 5.30-9.30pm, the event will resemble the much-loved Christmas carnival with rides and novelties but will feature a different special guest.

"It will be similar to the Christmas carnival but you will have the chance to get a photo with the Easter Bunny instead,” association president Leo Geraghty.

The association is looking forward to seeing how the event runs as they consider the future of the Christmas carnival, which has been washed out for three consecutive years.

Mr Geraghty said they were considering running the carnival on a smaller scale to allow it to continue in the town hall in the event of rain.
