Music muster brings in the big names
THIS year's Murgon Music Muster is set to be bigger and better than ever with some of Australia's best country artists performing at the week-long festival.
Caravans started arriving as early as Monday morning for the popular country music event and organisers predict record crowds at this year's festivities.
Muster chairman and Rotary president, Heath Sander said it was gearing up to be a huge event.
"We've got 100 vans here already,” he said.
"It is great for Murgon.”
Headlining act, Adam Harvey is sure to impress with his Saturday night show and Sunday morning music and conversation session.
Other popular acts include Australian country music hall of fame inductee, Graham Rodger and 2018 Golden Guitar winner for new talent, Brad Butcher.
Mr Sander said the 2018 Murgon Music Muster brought a whole new energy to the town.
"We are hoping to have over 300 vans this year,” he said.
"Murgon is just so busy, I saw people on the rail trail at 7am this morning.”
The event chairman wanted to give a big shout out to all the businesses who have sponsored and gotten behind this year's event.
"All the businesses have been so helpful, they have volunteered their time at the drop of a hat,” Mr Sander said.
Music lovers from all over the country have made their way to the South Burnett for this popular country music event.
"Just today I have met couples from Adelaide, Tasmania, Cairns and Mackay,” Mr Sander said.
The official opening will take place at 1.30pm on Friday with event MC, deputy mayor, Kathy Duff and founding member of the Muster, Bruce Bishop.
Early attendees will enjoy walk up artists from Tuesday October 30 at 2pm and invited artists will start from 2pm on Friday.
The Muster is more than just having a fantastic time and Mr Sander said the event raises much needed funds for some worthy organisations.
"The money we raise will allow Blue Care palliative care patients to stay at home in their time of ill health and an obs trolley for Southern Cross Care as well as financial assistance for the Royal Flying Doctors Service,” he said.
The Murgon Music Muster will be held from Tuesday October 30 to Sunday November 4 at the PCYC South Burnett, 40 MacAlister St, Murgon.
Tickets for camping and for the event are still available for purchase at the gate on arrival.
